On-vehicle Inspection
ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION
PROCEDURE
1. CHECK ENGINE OIL LEVEL
(a) Warm up and stop the engine, then wait for 5 minutes.
(b) Check that the engine oil level is between the low level and full level marks on the engine oil level dipstick.
If the level is low, check for engine oil leaks and add engine oil to the full level mark.
NOTICE:
Do not fill to above the full level mark.
2. CHECK ENGINE OIL QUALITY
(a) Check the engine oil for deterioration, water intrusion, discoloration or thinning.
If the quality is visibly poor, replace the engine oil and oil filter sub-assembly.
3. INSPECT OIL PRESSURE
(a) Connect the GTS to the DLC3.
(b) Turn the ignition switch to ON.
(c) Turn the GTS on.
(d) Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Data List / Engine Speed, Engine Oil Temperature Sensor and Engine Oil Pressure.
Powertrain > Engine > Data List
Tester Display |
---|
Engine Speed |
Engine Oil Temperature Sensor |
Engine Oil Pressure |
(e) Start the engine and warm it up until the engine oil temperature is 75 to 85°C (167 to 185°F).
(f) Read the Data List.
Standard
Engine Speed | Engine Oil Temperature Sensor |
Engine Oil Pressure |
---|---|---|
1000 rpm |
75 to 85°C (167 to 185°F) |
80 kPa(gauge) [12 psi(gauge)] or higher |
2000 rpm | 80 kPa(gauge) [12 psi(gauge)] or higher | |
3000 rpm | 200 kPa(gauge) [29 psi(gauge)] or higher |
If the result is not as specified, check the quality of the engine oil and check the oil paths for clogging. Repair or replace if necessary. After performing replacement or repairs, if the engine oil pressure is not as specified, perform the confirmation driving pattern for DTC P052477, P15F009, P15F077, P15F109, P15F177 in SFI System and check for DTCs.
