MONITOR DESCRIPTION

If too much current is detected flowing through the rear motor inverter, the rear motor inverter transmits an inverter fail signal to the motor generator control ECU. Upon receiving this signal, the ECU will illuminate the MIL and store a DTC.

CONFIRMATION DRIVING PATTERN

HINT:

  • After repair has been completed, clear the DTC and then check that the vehicle has returned to normal by performing the following All Readiness check procedure.

  • When clearing the permanent DTCs, refer to the "CLEAR PERMANENT DTC" procedure.

  1. Clear the DTCs (even if no DTCs are stored, perform the clear DTC procedure).
  2. Turn the ignition switch off and wait for 2 minutes or more.
  3. Turn the ignition switch to ON and wait for 5 seconds or more. [*1]
  4. Turn the ignition switch to ON (READY) and wait for 5 seconds or more. [*2]

    HINT:

Check that there are no abnormalities (abnormal sounds, coolant leaks, etc.).

  5. With the vehicle stopped, begin moving with the accelerator opening angle between 20% to 50% and a speed of approximately 10 km/h (6 mph), then stop the vehicle and repeat the same procedure several times. [*3]

    HINT:

    • While doing this, check that the "Rear Motor Torque" value does not remain at 0 N*m continuously, but rather changes to indicate that the rear motor is operating.

(Unless rear motor torque is restricted due to DTC output, the rear motor torque will not remain at 0 N*m continuously.)

    • [*1] to [*3]: Normal judgment procedure.

The normal judgment procedure is used to complete DTC judgment and also used when clearing permanent DTCs.

  6. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Motor Generator / Utility / All Readiness.
  7. Check the DTC judgment result.

    HINT:

    • If the judgment result shows NORMAL, the system is normal.
    • If the judgment result shows ABNORMAL, the system has a malfunction.
    • If the judgment result shows INCOMPLETE, perform the normal judgment procedure again.

NOTICE:

  • After the ignition switch is turned off, there may be a waiting time before disconnecting the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.

  • When disconnecting and reconnecting the auxiliary battery.

    HINT:

When disconnecting and reconnecting the auxiliary battery, there is an automatic learning function that completes learning when the respective system is used.

  • After troubleshooting and repairing all output DTCs, be sure to replace the inverter with converter assembly. (The inverter with converter assembly may have been broken or damaged due to overheating.)

HINT:

  • P0A799E or P1C5E19 may be output as a result of the malfunctions indicated by the DTCs in table below.
    1. The chart above is listed in inspection order of priority.
    2. Check DTCs that are output at the same time by following the listed order. (The main cause of the malfunction can be determined without performing unnecessary inspections.)
  • If P0A799E is output, replace the inverter with converter assembly after completing repairs.
