MONITOR DESCRIPTION

When the ignition switch is turned ON and the output voltage of the oil pressure sensor is less than 0.159 V for 5 seconds or more, the ECM determines that the oil pressure sensor circuit is malfunctioning and illuminates the MIL and stores a DTC.

CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT

HINT:

Read Freeze Frame Data using the GTS. The ECM records vehicle and driving condition information as Freeze Frame Data the moment a DTC is stored. When troubleshooting, Freeze Frame Data can help determine if the vehicle was moving or stationary, if the engine was warmed up or not, if the air fuel ratio was lean or rich, and other data from the time the malfunction occurred.

PROCEDURE

1.

CHECK TERMINAL VOLTAGE (OIL PRESSURE SENSOR)

*a

Front view of wire harness connector

(to Oil Pressure Sensor)

HINT:

Make sure that the connector is properly connected. If it is not, securely connect it and check for DTCs again.

(a) Disconnect the oil pressure sensor connector.

(b) Turn the ignition switch to ON.

(c) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Voltage:

2.

CHECK INTERNAL RESISTANCE (ECM)

(a) Turn the ignition switch off.

(b) Disconnect the oil pressure sensor connector.

(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Resistance:

190 to 210 kΩ

HINT:

As voltage is still supplied to the ECM after the ignition switch is turned off, this check cannot be performed correctly during the shut-down process.
