Toyota Corolla Cross: Cooling System
On-vehicle Inspection
ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION
PROCEDURE
1. INSPECT FOR COOLANT LEAK (for Engine)
CAUTION:
- When engine assembly and radiator assembly are hot, do not remove the radiator cap sub-assembly.
- Fluid and steam may spray out due to high pressure, possibly resulting in burns.
(a) Remove the radiator cap sub-assembly.
(b) Fill the reserve tank assembly with engine coolant, and then install a radiator cap tester. |
|
(c) Put the engine in inspection mode (maintenance mode).

(d) Warm up the engine.
(e) Pump the radiator cap tester to 103 kPa (1.1 kgf/cm2, 15 psi), and then check that the pressure does not drop.
- If the pressure drops, check the hoses, radiator assembly and engine water pump assembly for leaks.
- If there are no signs of external engine coolant leaks, check the heater core, cylinder block sub-assembly and cylinder head sub-assembly.
(f) Remove the radiator cap tester.
(g) Install the radiator cap sub-assembly.
2. INSPECT ENGINE COOLANT LEVEL IN RESERVOIR (for Engine)
(a) Check that the engine coolant level is between the MIN line and MAX line when the engine is cold.
If the engine coolant level is MIN, check for leaks and add engine coolant to the MAX line.
NOTICE: Do not substitute plain water for engine coolant. |

3. INSPECT ENGINE COOLANT QUALITY (for Engine)
CAUTION:
- When engine assembly and radiator assembly are hot, do not remove the radiator cap sub-assembly.
- Fluid and steam may spray out due to high pressure, possibly resulting in burns.
(a) Remove the radiator cap sub-assembly.
(b) Check that there are no excessive deposits of rust or scale around the radiator cap sub-assembly and water filler hole. Also, the engine coolant should be free of oil.
If excessively dirty, clean the engine coolant passage and replace the engine coolant.
(c) Install the radiator cap sub-assembly.

DESCRIPTION The stop light switch assembly is a duplex system that transmits two signals: STP and ST1-. These two signals are used by the ECM to monitor whether or not the brake system is working properly. If the signals, which indicate the brake pedal is being depressed and released, are detected s
