Toyota Corolla Cross: Control Module Communication Bus Off (U0073,U0100,U0126,U0129)

DESCRIPTION

When the signal sent from the 4WD ECU assembly does not finish sending, the 4WD ECU assembly stores a DTC.

When a malfunction occurs in communication with the ECM, skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) and steering sensor, the 4WD ECU assembly stores a DTC.

DTC No.

Detection Item

DTC Detection Condition

Trouble Area

U0073

Control Module Communication Bus Off

  • With the ignition switch ON, sending of the signal from the 4WD ECU assembly does not complete for 5 seconds or more.
  • When the following occurs 10 times consecutively:
    • A communication malfunction (bus off) occurs one or more times within 0.1 seconds.
  • CAN communication system
  • 4WD ECU assembly

U0100

Lost Communication with ECM / PCM "A"

When both of the following continue for 2 seconds or more:

  • The ignition switch is ON and the voltage of the IG1 terminal is 10 V or more.
  • At a vehicle speed of 60 km/h (37 mph) or more, signals cannot be received from the ECM.
  • CAN communication system
  • 4WD ECU assembly
  • ECM

U0126

Lost Communication with Steering Angle Sensor Module

  • When the IG1 terminal voltage is 10 V or more, communication with the steering sensor is impossible for 1 second or more.
  • When all of the following occur 10 times consecutively within 60 seconds:
    • The voltage of the IG1 terminal is 10 V or more.
    • The condition that communication with the steering sensor cannot be performed occurs once within 5 seconds.
  • CAN communication system
  • 4WD ECU assembly
  • Steering sensor

U0129

Lost Communication with Brake System Control Module

When the IG1 terminal voltage is 10 V or more, communication with the skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) is impossible for 3 seconds or more.

  • CAN communication system
  • 4WD ECU assembly
  • Skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly)

PROCEDURE

1.

CHECK FOR DTC

(a) Check for DTCs.

Chassis > Four Wheel Drive > Trouble Codes

(b) Record the output DTCs (dynamic torque control AWD system).

HINT:

When DTCs indicating a CAN communication system malfunction are output, repair the CAN communication system before repairing each corresponding sensor.

     AWD Warning Remains ON

DESCRIPTION The 4WD ECU assembly is connected to the combination meter assembly via the CAN communication system. If the 4WD ECU assembly stores any DTCs which are related to the dynamic torque

AWD Warning does not Come ON

DESCRIPTION Refer to "AWD Warning Light Remains ON". Click here WIRING DIAGRAM Refer to "AWD Warning Light Remains ON". Click here CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT Refer to &

     ECU Power Source Circuit

DESCRIPTION When the ignition switch is ON, auxiliary battery voltage is applied to terminal MREL of the ECM through the coil of the EFI-MAIN relay. This causes the EFI-MAIN relay to close, which supplies power to terminal +B of the TCM. WIRING DIAGRAM Refer to DTC U010087. Click here CAU

     Charging

CHARGING CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT CAUTION: Orange wire harnesses and connectors indicate high-voltage circuits. To prevent electric shock, always follow the procedure described in the repair manual. Click here To prevent electric shock, wear insulated gloves when working on wire
