PROCEDURE

1. INSPECT DIFFERENTIAL OIL

(a) Stop the vehicle on a level surface.

(b) Using a 10 mm hexagon socket wrench, remove the rear differential filler plug and gasket.

(c) Check that the oil level is between 0 to 5 mm (0 to 0.197 in.) from the bottom lip of the rear differential filler plug hole.

If the result is not as specified, add differential oil.

Standard oil type and viscosity:

Toyota Genuine Differential Gear Oil LT 75W-85 GL-5 or equivalent

NOTICE:

  • When adding oil, pour it slowly.
  • Too much or too little oil will lead to rear differential problems.

0 to 5 mm (0 to 0.196 in.)

(d) If the oil level is low, refill oil after checking for oil leaks.

(e) Using a 10 mm hexagon socket wrench, install a new gasket and the rear differential filler plug.

Torque:

     VC Output Circuit

DESCRIPTION The ECM constantly generates a 5 V power source voltage from the auxiliary battery voltage supplied to the +B, +B2 (BATT) terminals to operate the microprocessor. The ECM also provides this power to the sensors through the VC output circuit. When the VC circuit has a short circuit, th
